THE red-brick Winnetka, Illinois, house where Macaulay Culkin was famously left Home Alone went up for sale this day for $US2.4 million ($2.2 million)
Homeowners John and Cynthia Abendshien are empty-nesters who no longer need the 4250-square-foot, 14-room home that sits on a half-acre lot about 20 miles from Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The couple, who purchased the red-brick Georgian in 1988 for $875,000, stated they hoped the property’s attributes and its role in John Hughes’ hit 1990 film could defy the current housing market slump to net them a buyer.

“The $2.4 million is not just because of its cinematic history,” stated the home’s listing agent, Marissa Hopkins of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “It really is a residential masterpiece.”
