How ‘Bridesmaids’ Landed ’90s Girl Group Wilson Phillips

Bridesmaids was a huge hit at the box office, drumming up $26.2 million its opening weekend. There were several memorable scenes, but one in particular came at the very end of the film, when members of Wilson Phillips made a surprise cameo. “They called us — it was as easy as that,” Carnie Wilson revealed to the New York Post, adding that saying yes was a no-brainer. “These producers (Judd Apatow) have made some of my favorite movies so we knew it would be a smart thing to be involved with,” Wilson said.

Sylvia Rhone, Ron Fair Expected to Exit in Forthcoming Universal Music Shuffle

The drumbeat is getting louder that Sylvia Rhone will exit Universal Motown Friday or within the next few days, depending on which source you listen to. But does that departure mean the end of her days at the Universal Music Group, as some sources insist – or, as other insiders argue, is she still considering a new role to head up a to-be-created, multi-rights company for UMG that would include a label, publishing, merchandising, management and touring?

Since Barry Weiss came to UMG as chairman/CEO of Island Def Jam and Universal Motown Republic Group, it’s been expected that Rhone’s role at Universal Motown ...

MasterChef: did the right cook win?

Did Tim Anderson deserve to win the culinary contest with his eccentric cuisine, or were rival finalists Tom or Sara robbed? So in the end it was the crazy professor, the mad scientist, the mini-me Heston, the wry Wisconsonite and all-round culinary eccentric Tim Anderson who won over Gregg Wallace and John Torode to steal the MasterChef crown away from Italian Sara and her Dancing Eyebrows and Nose-to-Tail Tom Whitaker. Did Tim deserve the title? My reaction to the news did not match my outrage when Ruth Badger did not win The Apprentice or when Kara Tointon waltzed off with ...

‘The Office’: ‘Emotional’ Carell send-off

Steve Carell’s final bow on The Office won’t air until a tiny more than a month from now, but the episode’s director, Paul Feig, who just wrapped filming last week, is already warning that the audience should prepare for an emotionally-charged episode. “We were exhausted by the end of that week. You thought you’d stop being sad or stop emotional, but every scene was, ‘Oh, we just did the last conference room’ or ‘Oh, we just did the last speaking head.’ So it was pretty wild,” he told EW at PaleyFest’s salute to Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared Saturday night.

What to Watch for week of February 28 to March 6

Pretty Little Liars The title of tonight’s episode is ”Person of Interest” for good reason: By the end of it, the Rosewood police finger one of our precious girls as a possible suspect in Alison’s still-unsolved death. Thankfully, it’s not all heavy — in true Liars fashion, the teen enjoys a rather unexpected makeout sesh before the cops come calling. Guessing which gal may hit the slammer is not too difficult, but we are not telling, since that’d suck all the darkness and fun out of this otherwise juicy hour of television. B —Tanner Stransky

Big B gets nostalgic about KBC

As the grand show comes to an end, Big B gets in a retrospective mood. The fourth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati continues to be a huge hit on tv but the show will soon come to an end. The last episode of the show will be aired in the first week of December though Amitabh Bachchan has already finished shooting for it. And like Bachchan says, “The completion of any act is a moment for reflection.” With that he gets nostalgic and remembers how it all started a decade back. “It’s been a fascinating journey.
