‘Idol’: Jazzed for a season 10 alum?

Image Credit: Michael Becker/Fox Yesterday’s news that Pia Toscano has signed with Interscope Records has us wondering: After this summer’s American Idols LIVE! tour (during which everyone will be EXTRA ALIVE), who else from season 10 will you really want to hear from again? Pia Toscano is this rare Idol contestant who still manages to create large buzz. She’s a pretty girl who could sing well, so how dare America get it wrong? I like Pia’s voice — never detected much musical intrigue from her, but I suppose that’s what production teams are for.

‘Australian Idol’ Judge, 36, Found Dead

Australian Idol judge was found dead in his Sydney apartment on Thursday, June 30. He was 36. A UK transplant and A&R executive at Sony Music for more than six years, Springbett joined the show in its seventh and final Aussie season in 2009, taking the role of soft-spoken but direct fourth judge (New Zealand’s soulful Stan Walker won that year) and was generally regarded as a “nice guy.” Springbett replaced Kyle Sandilands, who has since moved on to other Fremantle Media properties Australia’s Got Talent and Australia’s version of X Factor.  Police tell the Sydney Morning Herald that his death ...

Jennifer Lopez is not sure she will return to season 2 of American Idol. “Nobody’s made me make the decision yet , and it could go either way,” the first-year judge tells Extra. PHOTOS: ‘American Idol’ Season 10 Finale “I’m not saying I did not love it,” she continued. “But you know, I only signed up for one year, so the second year… we do not know yet.” This is not the first time Lopez has stated she is unsure about returning to the Fox hit. Jennifer Lopez and ‘Idol’: 35 Million Reasons Why She Might Not Be Back (Analysis)

How about we just call it like it is: Jennifer Lopez’s recent admission to the BBC that she’s “on the fence” about returning to American Idol next season is likely nothing more than a ploy for a pay hike. Lopez’s current salary: a reported $12 million. How high could her demand ultimately go? Another $23 million, if the Simon Cowell budget is your barometer. That’s right, Idol’s top-earning judge for eight years running commanded $35 million per season at the end of his tenure, or about $642,201 per hour, using season 9’s total airtime.

‘American Idol’: Three Burning Questions for Season 11

Kevin Winter/American Idol 2011/Getty Images Now that the last note of American Idol’s Season 10 has been sung come a slew of new questions: What will become of winner Scotty McCreery’s music career; how will Idol’s 11th year shape up in terms of the judging panel; and will TV’s No. 1 show re-up its broadcast deal with Fox? Question No. 1: Will Idol return to Fox? In a word: Yes. No network would give up the most-watched show on television. But a better question is how much Fox will pay to air Idol.

Lee DeWyze, left, and Nigel Lythgoe Seems there was actually more drama happening off the stage at American Idol’s finale Wednesday night. Scotty McCreery single: It’s good!

Image Credit: Michael Becker/FOX American Idol winner Scotty McCreery nearly certainly wouldn’t have become as large as he is going to get (and you can count on this guy being huge, perhaps challenging Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood for Idol-alum dominance) had he not gotten on television—mostly because you need the juxtaposition of his baby face with the rich, nuanced, weathered baritone that comes out of it.

What Carrie Underwood Whispered to Lauren Alaina on ‘American Idol’ Finale

Underwood won season 5 of the Fox hit. Performing with Underwood “was a dream come true,” continued Alaina.

Steven Tyler on ‘American Idol’ Final Two Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery

American Idol judge Steven Tyler charmed the press following Tuesday’s performance show as only he can. The Aerosmith frontman sang a few licks, stayed mum about his own participation as a performer on Wednesday’s finale, cracked many jokes and offered his share of insights on the final two. Read on for Tyler’s two cents… “In L.A., I go out and bump into Johnny Depp and stuff, and so one thing led to another… Not with Johnny, but I was kind of bored, had some off time, wrote a song and put it out with a book.” On first hearing Lauren ...
